Halloween is my Favorite day of the year
I know you may be thinking – maybe she’s a chocoholic or loves zombies. No, it has nothing to do with that. As a mom of 4 kids, each at a different school, and involved in various sports and activities, you can imagine that every day and evening is busy. Usually the evenings are spent rushing kids from one activity to another, getting homework done, trying to cram in a healthy meal. My husband also has a demanding job, and usually works late. But..on Halloween –
- Teachers don’t assign homework.
- After school activities and events get cancelled.
- You Husband comes home early and takes the out for the evening!
- You neighbour pop over for a quick visit.
Oh, sure every now and then, the doorbells rings, and you have to answer it and dole out some treats – but, for the most part – it’s a relaxing evening at home, either reading a book or watching some TV!!!
I heard there is a movement to make the Last Saturday Night of October Halloween.
Me, I say no – it would ruin the specialness of this one night. Not only that – but, I know many adults who go to Halloween Parties – this would be tough to do if you have to hang around with your little one trick or treating. What do you think? Please vote
Before I go and get ready for tick or treating, I would like to leave you with a super easy, and yummy Treat you can make for your Halloween Tricksters:
One-Bowl Scary Spider Brownies:
4 squares BAKER’S Unsweetened Chocolate
3/4 cup (1-1/2 sticks) butter or margarine
2 cups sugar
1 tsp. vanilla
1 cup flour
1 jar (7 oz.) JET-PUFFED Marshmallow Creme
1 square BAKER’S Semi-Sweet Chocolate, melted
LINE 13×9-inch baking pan with foil, with ends of foil extending over sides of pan to form handles. Grease foil.
MICROWAVE unsweetened chocolate and butter in large microwavable bowl on HIGH 2 minutes or until butter is melted. Stir until chocolate is completely melted. Add sugar; mix well. Stir in eggs and vanilla. Add flour and nuts; mix well. Spread into prepared pan.
BAKE at 350°F for 30 to 35 minutes or until toothpick inserted in center comes out with fudgy crumbs. (Do not overbake.) Immediately drop marshmallow creme by spoonfuls over hot brownies; spread evenly over top of brownies. Cool in pan. Lift out of pan onto cutting board using foil handles. Remove foil. Place on serving tray. Drizzle melted chocolate over marshmallow creme to create a spider web design.
How To Easily Drizzle Melted Chocolate
Place unwrapped square of chocolate in small microwavable bowl. Microwave on HIGH 1 to 1-1/2 minutes or until chocolate is almost melted, stirring every 30 seconds. (Chocolate will hold it’s shape.) Stir until chocolate is completely melted. Spoon into small plastic bag. Roll up bag to push chocolate into corner. Using scissors, cut off tiny piece of corner, about 1/8-inch wide. Twist top of bag and gently squeeze to drizzle chocolate back and forth over dessert.
Enjoy – and thanks for reading
Have a safe and Happy Halloween.
